Blue flowers don't seen natural to me. Yet i find them in boquets in stores and wonder how? But they look beautiful! I love the color blue, though norm dictates it should be pink. But along with my 9 yr old son. I am facinated by the turquiose, pacific blue, green blue.......shades. So here is my take on blue flowers. With a sprinkle of grey and yellow. The pictures truly do not do justice to the REAL colors.
Hope you like it.

This piece started as a simple flower which progressed into something that i have not seen before. The only thing i knew was that it was to be red and yellow.
The verse i needed showcased was one of my favorites

Here is how i worked this peice.
Before adding the stamens made with fluff

Quilled Gerberas
So my latest piece is based off Quilling by Ada's Gerbera tutorial. These beautiful flowers look stunning. And Ada has been kind enough to share the tutorial with us taking away all the guess work in making these.
This piece was made for my cousin. The colors are used were paplin paper Purple Shades.
I have linked to the shop i buy most of my strips from.
So the flowers i made started with this
These were the individual flowers
Then putting them together required leaves. I needed a couple of shades of green to make the purples pop on the blue matting.
The final piece
Any questions - let me know. Please visit Quilling by Ada for more inspiration. She has amazing work! Final piece was framed in a 11* 14 shadow box

Quilled piece on mottled Canvas
So i thought a plain piece of canvas in white would not make an effective back ground. So i went googling the "mottled effect" painting method. I tried that out and got a very nice background - atleast i think so :) The background is actually with green, yellow and gold tones. So i then added some quilled flowers. I followed Pritesh Dagurs tutorial
http://youtu.be/qiLk9wmIMSY which was based off http://azlina-lin.blogspot.com/2012/01/multicoloured-flowers.html for one of the main pieces. I like the effect :)
I have finally figured out that quilled swirls are best with card stock paper - they are easier to shape.
