This was an experiment to see what i could use gold gilded black quilling strips for and how it would look. I had read about the nuns in the 16th and 17th century used gilded paper to imitate the antique metal work prevalent in those times. When i first bought the silver and gold gilded paper, my first thought was to use it for Christmas ornaments and Christmas cards. The effect was spectacular.
Here is my elephant which i hand drew. I so badly wanted to make a version of Angie by Mona's quilling, but stuck to my version instead. A friend mentioned that my elephant looked really fit and trim. And its true it does. But i love it all the same. And it went to a very special Uncle as a birthday gift.
